What is an Amistr?

Amistr is one or the four Homunculi available for the Alchemist and Biochemist who have completed the Bioethics Quest.

Primarily a tank type, Amistr sports the highest VIT and HP growth among the homunculi. Its skills are all centered to serve as a distraction and take on hits for its master by switching their positions using Castling and by boosting its HP and DEF further. However, it lacks MDEF, making it vulnerable to magic, as well as offensive skills to quickly dispatch its target. Fortunately, its high enough VIT allows extremely high healing values from Aid Potion and Aid Condensed Potion, saving a good amount of potions to heal it to full health. Amistrs require Zargon for consumption which is usually abundant among mid to high-leveled monsters.

Amistr's Appearances

Like all Homunculi, Amistr is obtainable in two styles, in this case visually resembling land animal life: one appears as a white fluffball sheep/goat, the other a pinkish brown hippo-like creature. Outside an aesthetic sense, there is ultimately no difference between "Sheep Amistr" and "Hippo Amistr", as they possess the same pool of skills and general stat growth. Transforming Amistr from its adolescent appearance into a mature form requires a Stone of Sage when it possesses loyal disposition towards its creator.

Amistr and Alchemist Builds

Due to its tanking abilities and lack of offensive skills, Amistrs work best with damage dealing builds. Because an Amistr cannot kill as quickly as the other homunculi save possibly the Lif, it serves more of a distraction to enemies while the master and his party take their opponents down. The Amistr also work well with tank builds as Amistr Bulwark gives equipment DEF to the master, further reducing physical damage. Although great tanks are good distractions, Amistrs are more suited to player versus monster engagements as smart players will opt to ignore the Amistr completely and focus on its master instead.

Pros

• Highest DEF among all homunculus, thanks to Adamantium Skin.
• DEF and can be further boosted by Amistr Bulwark, which also boosts owner's VIT by up to +30.
• Castling makes movement of an AFK alchemist possible.
• The ultimate skill Blood Lust does not cause total intimacy loss.

Cons

• No offensive attack skills.
• Extremely poor SP Recovery.
• Lower flee and attack speed compared to Filir and Vanilmirth.
