Requirements

Job Level: 10
Class: Novice
Rewards
Base Experience: N/A
Quest Reward(s): Jobchange to Swordman

1. In Izlude, enter the building on the west side of town. Talk to the NPC in the center, then the guard to the west. This guard will transfer you to a new room.

2. Talk to the guard here to initiate the test.

  • Note: The test is straightforward. Just walk through three maps while avoiding pitfalls. Misjudging the alignment of cells and walking off the path will cause you to fall into a pit filled with aggressive fabres, chonchons, and various weak monsters. To get out of the pit, you must find the portal which is in the northeast corner.

Descriptions of Test Maps

  • First Map: A simple map. Just walk to the other side.
  • Second Map: This map involves two parallel bridges. Take your time and be careful not to fall off. Remember: You don't have to hold the mouse button down to walk.
  • Third Map: Similar to the first map except for the upper and lower levels. The lower level has a darker color than the upper level. Take your time and click carefully to get to the lower level.

3. After exiting the test area, speak to the large Swordman in the main room to change jobs.

4. Go to the southeast corner of the same room to talk to a black-haired man for some Base Experience. Return to him after getting Bash Level 1 for more Base Experience.

Quest Reward(s): Jobchange to Mage
  • Note:This guide was originally written by Dishonru on the RagnaInfo forums.

1. Go to the northwest building located in Geffen at 63,177.

2. Once inside, talk to the girl by the blackboard. She will tell you what solution number you need. This is important because the solution number you get determines what items you need and what you need to input in to the mixing machine. You can look up the ingredients you need at the bookshelf located inside of the same room.

  • Note: You don't need to get the catalyst item, it is just a selection from the mixing machine list.

3. If you need Milk you can obtain it in Prontera at the milk merchant (76,133) for 25 Zeny.

4. If you need a Payon Solution you can find it in the Payon Archer Village (118,100), which you can get to by taking the top right portal in Payon.

5. If you need a Morroc Solution you can find it on the Pyramids map (88,147) located access through the northwest corner of Morroc.

6. Once you obtain all of the ingredients you have to mix them in the the mixing machine. Make sure you double check everything the ingredients, catalyst, and activation code at the bookshelf. If any mistakes are made, all of the items must be obtained again, so it's important to be extra careful and to double-check your work.

7. Once the Unknown Solution is made talk to the main quest NPC again in order to change jobs to Mage.

Quest Reward(s): Jobchange to Merchant

1. Whenever you are ready to become a Merchant head to Alberta. The building in the southwest corner is the Merchant guild. Inside, talk to the blond NPC behind the desk to sign up to become a Merchant. You will need to pay them 1,000 Zeny.

  • Note: You can pay half (500z) before, and half (500z) after you go through the quest if you lack the funds.

2. The Merchant quest involves the delivery of a parcel, just like a real merchant. Two key pieces of information given to you by the guild leader (the man behind the desk at the entrance) is the Serial Number and the Destination.

3. To obtain the parcel, head down into the warehouse and speak with the warehouse supervisor. You must the enter the serial number as well as the destination of the parcel. The supervisor will give you a parcel even if you enter the wrong serial number or destination, but the NPC will not accept it, thus making the player start from scratch. The serial number is randomly chosen between one of these:

  1. 2485741
  2. 2328137
  3. 2989396
  4. 2191737
  5. 3012685
  6. 3487372
  7. 3318702
  8. 3543625

It is highly recommended that players write down the destination and the serial number.

4. You will be sent to one of the following locations:

  • Izlude Dungeon (Bylan Island) : Kafra Employee
  • Prontera: Southeastern corner, Kafra Employee
  • Geffen: Mage Guild in the North west building, Man with glasses
  • Morroc: Dyemaker's house in the Northeastern house, he is located in the room directly to the right after you enter the house.

5. Once the parcel is delivered, return to Alberta and present the supervisor with the voucher. Then speak with the guild leader to become a Merchant.

Thief

To become a thief, you will have to level your novice to Job Level 10, and used all your skill points on "Basic Skill". Afterward, head off to Morroc to locate the Pyramids, which is north-west. Once, at the entrance of pyramid, enter and head for the middle of the map to enter the Guild. (Refer to the mini-map below if you don't know where) Once you enter, follow the hallway down and take the left gate. In here you will see a two NPCs that will guide you through the thief job change. Talk to the one closest to the warp portal. She will ask you a few questions, then instruct you to find an "Irrelevant Man" somewhere outside the Pyramid (141, 125) in order to steal mushrooms from a nearby mushroom farm.

Image:thiefmap.JPG

The Mushroom Farm

In here all you have to do is kill the mushrooms and collect the spoils. There's Orange Goey Mushroom and Orange Net Mushroom. The Goey one is worth 1 point and the Net one is worth 3 points. Your mission is to collect at least mushrooms worth of 25 points. There will be Fabres and Chonchons (and Spores, but they're not aggresive so don't bother with them) protecting the place, try to avoid them. But, if you die, you can talk to the Mr. Irrelevant to enter and do it as many times as you need. Head back to Thief Guild, do not talk to the Mr. Irrelevant again (He will send you back in), and talk to NPC farthest from the warp portal. He will count them and if you have enough points, he will promote you to a Thief.

At this point I think you should take a break from your thief and check out the assassin page and the rogue page to give you some kind of insight in the difference between the two. I also think you should at least have some kinda idea what you want to use your thief for. (i ex: WoE/PvP, PvM or maybe even MvP)

Acolyte

Go to Prontera Church. It is located in the Northeastern corner of Prontera City. Once one enters the church they have to go to the room to the right hand side and talk to the Priest NPC. He will tell them to go meet one of the following NPCs.

  • Note: Once the novice talks to the ascetic they will be saved at their location. This means that once the novice dies they will respawn at the NPC's spot instead of their old save point.

Image:Test1.jpg

Morroc

This is the longest distance one has to travel but is actually relatively easy to get to given that the novice hasn't used up all of their Kafra Tickets for the teleport service. Simply use the service to go to Morroc and exit to the north. The NPC is located in the North Western Corner

Image:TypeBmap.jpg Image:Route3.jpg Image:Test4.jpg

East Geffen

Once again use the Kafra ticket to warp to Geffen and go 2 maps to the East to locate this NPC. The NPC is located in the center of the map.

Image:Acoquest3map.jpg Image:Acoquestroute3.jpg Image:Test2.jpg

East Prontera

The Ascetic to the East of Prontera is located in the North Eastern corner. This quest is actually one of the hardest of the three choices due to the Mandragora map the novice has to pass through. Remember not to hit any of the Yoyos. They will kill most novices. Fly Wing from any Chocos, they will also kill most novices.

Job Change

Return back to Prontera to change into an Acolyte. Note that the Acolyte will be unable to use Daggers because of the class change, meaning if this is their first character they will have to make enough money as a novice to buy an NPC mace to get their first few Acolyte levels easily.
