This article is a guide on where and how to level Wizards, High Wizards and Mages planning on becoming either.

Magmas

7x-9x

Nogg Road 1 (colloquially called Magmas) is the staple leveling location for any kind of wizard. The general strategy involves having a priest run to mob monsters, which the wizard will follow and destroy the mob with Storm Gust. While in principle the wizard should never get hit and the priest should be the only one tanking attacks, in practice monsters may sometimes switch targets, so it is a good practice to wear appropriate defensive gear as well as use Energy Coat if one's SP allows for it.

Monsters

  • Blazer: Slow. Have a ranged attack. Hurt a bit. Kill them.
  • Explosion: Moderate speed. If you're wearing a brutal guard they don't hurt that much. Kill them.
  • Grizzly: Their Spear Stab hurts. If you get stunned, let your Priest know as soon as possible. Kill them quickly.
  • Kaho: More of an annoyance than anything else, but the EXP from them isn't terrible either. Kill them.
  • Lava Golem: Their attacks hurt more than anything else here and if they're attacking you rather than the Priest, you might die if you don't have the HP to tank a few hits from them. Killing them is your first priority.

Leeching

Nearly impossible.

Courtesies

  • Do not attack another party's mob. If it happens by accident (and yes, it happens to everyone sometimes), make sure to apologize.
  • Do inform your Priest if you want to loot. Most do not expect you to do so and will immediately run to collect the next mob. This can be a problem if you arrive at the next mob too late to save the priest's failing HP when he or she cannot out-Heal a large mob (which happens often, especially if the Priest does not have the benefit of Assumptio).

Techniques

  • If your Priest has more than one Lava Golem in a mob, use Storm Gust level 1 in order to freeze the mob and give your Priest a few precious seconds to breathe.
  • Switching between a Dex-increasing accessory and your Phen or Bloody Butterfly-carded Clip is a good practice. Start casting with the Dex-increasing accessory equipped, then immediately switch to the Clip to prevent your casting from being interrupted. This decreases your cast time by a bit and can be a life-saver if the mob your Priest made is too big.
