Overview
Do you believe in the gods? Witness the Paladin's might and see the power of the divine for yourself! Non-believers are sure to convert and sinners will repent! The Paladin is a shining symbol of piety and devotion who uses his fighting ability in the service of the gods and his fellow man. His skills can punish the wicked or inspire the faithful.
Paladins are the Transcendent variant of the Crusader class. Aside from the HP/SP boost, the Paladin's defensive capabilities have not seen significant changes. They do receive many new offensive abilities which inspiring many INT-built Crusaders to become battle-built Paladins. For those Paladins who wish to continue as an INT-type build, the Battle Chant skill allows them to play a supportive role in large party settings, and the 20 additional skills points allow them to learn a much wider variety of skills.
Job Change Guide
To become a Paladin, you must find a book called 'the Book of Ymir' in 'Sage Castle', Juno. The book will lead you to Valhalla so you can change your job through the Paladin Job NPC. Also you must reach Job Level 50 as a Transcendent 1st class character.
1. 'Sage Castle' is located at 11 o'clock direction Juno. | in2. 'Book of Ymir' is located inside a room behind an NPC called 'Metheus Sylphe' . |
3. 'Book of Ymir' | will teleport you to Valhalla.4. Find and talk to the Job NPC suited to your 2nd class. |
Builds
- See Royal Guard Builds for build strategies to work towards. See Crusader Builds for leveling strategies for just the Paladin leveling stages. Leveling a Paladin is similar to a regular pre-trans Crusader, but with a few new skill additions.
New Skills Overview:
Rapid Smiting is a powerful single target shield skill, that can one-shot most monsters within the Paladin's level range. However, it is generally not used as a Royal Guard so it is not recommended to acquire this skill unless the player intends to do a skill reset.
Battle Chant is an excellent support skill. However, it does have many skill requirements and will use up many skill points.
Equipment
Eden Group Equipments Quests
- Main article: Eden Group Equipments Quests
Most transcendent characters will have already completed some Eden Equipment quests already and can reuse the equipment. If the character has not done the quest yet, they can do it as a transcendent character as well. The Spear is a good weapon and generally a good choice for a Crusader and their future classes' use.
General Equipment Recommendations
- Main article: Equipment
The Equipment article lists some general all purpose equipment that is useful through the PVM phase and also for endgame use as well.
Third Class Compatible Equipment
- Main article: Royal Guard Equipment
It is recommended to look at the Equipment recommendations for the Third Class job to see what equipment to strive for, rather than to spend a lot of money on a piece of equipment that will not be used in the future as a third class. However, some equipment may have a high level requirement, or are transcendent only.
Weapons
After considering what requirement skills have (some skills can only be used with certain weapon types), the Weapon Search tool within the iRO Wiki DB site is very helpful. Generally, for physical classes (both melee and ranged), something with high ATK is best. For magic classes, something with high MATK is best.
