Overview
Geneticists are the third class versions of Alchemists and Biochemists. When an Alchemist or Biochemist becomes base level 99, they can become a Geneticist. Alchemists who become a Geneticist can no longer transcend and thus cannot gain any transcendent skills (including Acid Bomb) and it is always recommended to transcend and turn into a Biochemist before turning third class, as with any other class in the game.
Geneticists are a complex class that requires a lot of hard work and dedication to master, but pays off greatly in the end with the ability to solo MVPs with ease and excel in performance at PVP. Geneticists are essentially the best MVP class in the game in terms of versatility and damage per second, but probably uses the most consumables. Everything about the Geneticist class has improved from its former Biochemist self including: good AOE and the ability to hit Ghost element monsters with Cart Cannon, much more powerful plant summons, the ability to make powerful new buff potions and bombs, and an improved new evolution of homunculus that will grant powerful support abilities to its geneticist owner.
Mastersmiths already brought cart skills beyond the level of a Merchant with Cart Boost and HSCR, but Geneticists go even further. Improving the Mastersmith's Cart Boost by giving it strength buffs, even more movement speed boost, and adding new skills that allow Geneticists to battle using their cart as a weapon, the Geneticist has become a powerful high speed weapon capable of destroying any object in its way.
As is the case with all Merchant classes, this class can be very expensive to play and is not recommended for a first time character or new players that are low on income. Using Acid Bomb, Glistening Coats, and Plant Summons requires farming or buying many materials and can become very tedious or expensive. Also, it requires much time and dedication to raise your homunculus's level and loyalty up, and many players will find themselves AFKing for endless hours to do so. Do not enter this class lightly. It will require your full attention and time to perfect but as stated before, is well worth the effort and time!
Job Change Guide
See Geneticist Job Change Guide for detailed information.
Changing into a Geneticist from an Alchemist or Biochemist requires the player to complete 2 tasks:
- Gaining knowledge about plants
- Learning more about carts
After completing these tests, the player will be transformed into a Geneticist. The test mostly takes place inside of the Geneticist's Lab in Lighthalzen.
Builds
Cart Cannon Leveling Build
- Str 90-100
- Agi 1
- Vit 96 (100 with job bonus)
- Int 100-120
- Dex 90-120 (this lowers the cast time of CC. Cast reduction gear can allow for more points into INT/LUK)
- Luk 30+ (after a certain point its cheaper to just do LUK over str/int)
Note: With proper gears to boost your damage, you do not need to go into a full PVM Cart Cannon build stats-wise and can aim for a balanced, MVPing build, as the stats on the builds are quite similar. This way you do not have to use a STAT / skill reset.
Primary Leveling Skills: Cart Remodeling 5 / Cart Cannon 5 / Cart Boost (Geneticist) 5
* Optional: Blood Sucker / Thorn Wall 5 / Crazy Vines 4 / Hell Plant 5 (It's questionable how often you will feel like using your plants. Most people just spam CC for leveling, but some like to create a cluster of plants and lure mobs into it (this is very material heavy to do). Can use Blood Sucker to heal and deal additional damage.
MVP Killer
Primary MVP Killing Skills: Acid Bomb 10 / Full Chemical Protection 10 / Cart Remodeling 5 / Cart Cannon 5 / Cart Boost (Geneticist) 5 / Blood Sucker / Fire Expansion 5
You MUST have Bio-Chemist skills Acid Bomb and Full Chemical Protection to MVP
PvP/WoE Mad Scientist
Primary Player Killing Spells: Acid Bomb 10 / Hell Plant 5 / Crazy Vines / Mandragora Howling / Blood Sucker / Item Sling (very important for PVP),
BioChemist prereq: Full Chemical Protection / Acid Bomb / Summon Flora (this ones optional for more plant dmg)
Pure Potion/Foods Maker
Note: hybrid PVM and brewing builds can still have decent Acid Bomb and Cart Cannon damage, while still retaining good brewing/cooking success rates.
Primary Spells: Special Pharmacy / Mixed Cooking / Bomb Creation / Change Material
Homunculus: Vanilmirth

Both swords are viable to use, but the red is much more expensive due to the extra 10 ATK. For a leveling build, the blue will work just fine, but for mvping, you will want the red for the extra damage multiplier it has with acid bomb.

With Expert Archer enchants from Malangdo, these Maces provide good damage on large-sized monsters due to the 100% large size modifier on Maces vs. the 75% medium sized modifier on One-Handed Swords. Also, Maces can not be broken (except in upgrade attempts) and will not break with Dieter's Pyroclastic.

Great damage, but Axes have 100% large, 75% medium, and 50% small size modifiers. Also, is two handed and you will not be able to equip a shield. Does however provide a small amount of reduction against medium monsters when upgraded. Can be enchanted with Expert Archer enchants for more damage.

Orleans's Gown will give you uninterrupted cast on your Cart Cannon for less of a cast penalty than when using a Phen Card. It also frees up an accessory slot. Some people like to use the Phen/Diabolus Robe combination though for the HP bonus on Diabolus Robe. It really depends on which accessory you plan on using, but Orleans's is the superior choice for cast time.

Accessories
| Medal of Honor is a powerful accessory that adds 5% more damage, +500 HP, and +50 SP. This accessory can be acquired by saving up Eden Merit Badges and converting them into Valor Badges. It will however take you awhile to save up for this since you only get ten a day on free account, 20 a day on VIP (making extra characters to farm TIs helps immensely). Glorious Ring is also useful with a hefty 10% resistance against elements, 300 HP, and 3% cast reduction. When combined, these 2 items give you a total of 10% additional ATK/MATK, +10% resistance against elements, and +5% increase in rejuvenation from healing items. The only problem is that accumulating enough KVM to purchase the Glorious Ring can take a considerable amount of time, so players might want to just use 2 Medal of Honors until they can save enough KVM for the combination.

Homunculus
As an Alchemist and Biochemist, you raised a baby homunculus and earned its loyalty through countless hours of dedicated feeding. Well now all of that work pays off. With the evolution of yourself into Geneticist, your homunculus evolves as well into Homunculus S. For more details about the specifics of each homunculus, visit the extensive guide (see Homunculus S). A quick breakdown of the homunculus and their uses:
- Beyeri - A tanky beast with attitude, Beyeri safety walls his owner and provides holy AoE damage. His offensive skills are all interruptable, limiting their usefulness, and the AoE attack is not available until level 138. The Beyeri is not a popular choice due to it's poor leveling, and lack of a way to buff the owner.
- Dieter - The most popular of the homunculus, Dieter provides its owner with a significant damage boost as well as aoe damage against mobs which makes him very useful for MVP. Dieter is very tanky, which combined with his awesome aoe ability, makes him possibly the best homunculus to AFK with. Additionally, Volcanic Ash inflicts a very strong negative status, and can be used to great effect in WoE.
- Eira - Eira's magic attacks are outshined by the attacks of other Homunculus S types (particularly with regards to cast time). Light of Regen, while offering a means to resurrect the player, unfortunately consumes loyalty when cast, regardless of whether the resurrection ability activates. The defining skills of Eira are Overboost, which gives both owner and Eira 500 flee and 189 ASPD, and Silent Breeze which can inflict silence effectively on players in PVP/WoE (where most players are immune or nearly immune to normal sources of silence).
- Eleanor - Eleanor, probably one of the least loved homunculus, brings the damage but not much else. This kungfu ninja monk like cat lady will brutally beat the crap out of any target in site, chaining together combo attacks that do decent damage. Not really the best as far as support though which makes her one of the least used homunculus. May have a place in pvp, but then again, some of the other homunculus spells will prove more useful. Very useful for single target killing in pvm though. Mostly just played for aesthetics though
- Sera - The ultimate PVM homunculus, Sera is capable of buffing the owner (and other players) with Pain Killer, which provides a very large subtraction-type damage reduction. Due to how powerful this buff is, it also makes Sera quite amazing for MVPing as well. With typical gear, a player under the effect of Painkiller will take 1's from most normal monsters. Sera is also highly effective AFK leveling using Poison Mist and thus, is strongly recommended for solo play and MVP.
Note:
It is often debated which Homunculus is better for MVPing: Sera vs Dieter
What it really comes down to is: are you geared enough to survive without Painkiller vs do you want more damage output with Dieters buff. Both homunculus are amazing for MVPing, and the player should choose based on their own gameplay, and not the opinions of others. For lesser geared Geneticists, Sera is the better option, since she will allow the player to survive through MVP mobs as well as reduce the damage of powerful attacks. If surviving isnt a problem though, then Dieter may be the better option for you for the damage buff he gives.
