Overview
Eventually, the Monk realizes the limits of the human mind and body... The force in his punches is feared, but his spirit is unsatisfied: His mind, body and spirit are not yet in perfect harmony. Through intense dedication and rigorous training, the Monk can finally tap into the total strength of his entire being as a Champion.
A Champion is the Transcendent variant of Monk. Known for the one-hit skill, Guillotine Fist. Champions are even deadlier in close range combat due to their boosted SP count and STR. Champions get mostly new combo-skills as their transcendental skills. Combo skills are mostly used for PvM but still can wreck havoc in PvP if executed properly.
The most loved boost is probably the new skill Zen and the increase in HP and SP since Guillotine Fist relies on the STR and SP count of the caster. With 69 skill points to allocate, Champions can now have the most commonly used (PvP wise) skills maxed. Although the new skills are disappointing for those who are PvP oriented, the 69 skill points to allocate makes up for it and makes them able to get all offensive spirit skills maxed and get Snap at the same time.
Job Change Guide
To become a Champion, you must find a book called 'the Book of Ymir' in 'Sage Castle', Juno. The book will lead you to Valhalla so you can change your job through the Champion Job NPC. Also you must reach Job Level 50 as a Transcendent 1st class character.
1. 'Sage Castle' is located at 11 o'clock direction Juno. | in2. 'Book of Ymir' is located inside a room behind an NPC called 'Metheus Sylphe' . |
3. 'Book of Ymir' | will teleport you to Valhalla.4. Find and talk to the Job NPC suited to your 2nd class. |
Builds
- See Sura Builds for build strategies to work towards. See Monk Builds for leveling strategies for just the Champion leveling stages. Leveling a Champion is similar to a regular pre-trans Monk, but with a few new skill additions.
New Skills Overview:
Zen is extremely helpful as it allows the Champion or Sura to summon the maximum number of spirit spheres. This even allows a Sura with Rising Dragon level 10 to summon 15 spheres at once.
New Combos:
- Trifecta Blow => Quadruple Blow => Raging Thrust => Chain Crush Combo
- Trifecta Blow => Quadruple Blow => Raging Thrust => Chain Crush Combo => Guillotine Fist
- Trifecta Blow => Quadruple Blow => Raging Thrust => Glacier Fist => Chain Crush Combo
- Trifecta Blow => Quadruple Blow => Raging Thrust => Glacier Fist => Chain Crush Combo => Guillotine Fist
- Note* You can NOT perform Glacier Fist after Chain Crush Combo
Equipment
Eden Group Equipments Quests
- Main article: Eden Group Equipments Quests
Most transcendent characters will have already completed some Eden Equipment quests already and can reuse the equipment. If the character has not done the quest yet, they can do it as a transcendent character as well. The Mace is a good weapon and generally a good choice for a Monk and their future classes' use.
General Equipment Recommendations
- Main article: Equipment
The Equipment article lists some general all purpose equipment that is useful through the PVM phase and also for endgame use as well.
Third Class Compatible Equipment
- Main article: Sura Equipment
It is recommended to look at the Equipment recommendations for the Third Class job to see what equipment to strive for, rather than to spend a lot of money on a piece of equipment that will not be used in the future as a third class. However, some equipment may have a high level requirement, or are transcendent only.
Weapons
After considering what requirement skills have (some skills can only be used with certain weapon types), the Weapon Search tool within the iRO Wiki DB site is very helpful. Generally, for physical classes (both melee and ranged), something with high ATK is best. For magic classes, something with high MATK is best.
Link to the iRO Wiki DB Weapon Search: http://db.irowiki.org/db/weapon-search/ Some weapons that can be used:
- Glorious Morning Star
- Lunakaligo [3]
- Lich's Bone Wand [2] (+9 or +10)
Transcendent Only
For the most part, Champions utilize the same gear as their non-trans counterpart Monk. A few notable (and expensive) exceptions to this are:
- Variant Shoes
- Diabolus Robe & Diabolus Ring
- Nidhoggur's Shadow Garb
