Overview
Lord Knights are the Transcendent variants of Knights. The Lord Knight's skills are a good balance of offense and defense. The Lord Knight is now a master of weapons with a special affinity for Two-handed Swords and Spears. A Lord Knight has formidable attack strength and can crush an opponent's defense with ease. Being a Lord Knight, they gain vastly improved offensive capabilities and some defensive capabilities. They easily retain their status as the class with the highest HP Modifier and strongest physical AoE damage dealer.
Lord Knights get the most new skills of the Transcendent Classes: two skills that enhance their damage output, and three skills that deal damage and various status effects. If this isn't enough, they also get (beside the +25% HP) a skill that gives them on-par tanking ability to that of Crusaders in the form of Parry. Their ability to go Berserk unleashes massive damage while in a state of Frenzy. A number of defensive skills complement the Lord Knight's combat mastery.
Job Change Guide
To become a Lord Knight, you must find a book called 'the Book of Ymir' in 'Sage Castle', Juno. The book will lead you to Valhalla so you can change your job through the Lord Knight Job NPC. Also you must reach Job Level 50 as a Transcendent 1st class character.
1. 'Sage Castle' is located at 11 o'clock direction Juno. | in2. 'Book of Ymir' is located inside a room behind an NPC called 'Metheus Sylphe' . |
3. 'Book of Ymir' | will teleport you to Valhalla.4. Find and talk to the Job NPC suited to your 2nd class. |
Builds
- See Rune Knight Builds for build strategies to work towards. See Knight Builds for leveling strategies for just the Lord Knight leveling stages. Leveling a Lord Knight is similar to a regular pre-trans Knight, but with a few new skill additions.
New Skills Overview:
Clashing Spiral is a new powerful single target skill with a relatively low SP cost. Lord Knights may choose to acquire this skill for killing single targets with, to complement any of the common Knight builds.
Spear Dynamo is actually an extremely useful skill. It has no cooldown compared to Endure, so it can be recast repeatedly. It can also be used for HIT purposes, as level 5 will add a total of 50 HIT.
Equipment
Eden Group Equipments Quests
- Main article: Eden Group Equipments Quests
Most transcendent characters will have already completed some Eden Equipment quests already and can reuse the equipment. If the character has not done the quest yet, they can do it as a transcendent character as well. The Spear is a good weapon and generally a good choice for a Knight and their future classes' use, but some may opt for the Two Handed Sword for cheaper single target leveling with Two Hand Quicken.
General Equipment Recommendations
- Main article: Equipment
The Equipment article lists some general all purpose equipment that is useful through the PVM phase and also for endgame use as well.
Third Class Compatible Equipment
- Main article: Rune Knight Equipment
It is recommended to look at the Equipment recommendations for the Third Class job to see what equipment to strive for, rather than to spend a lot of money on a piece of equipment that will not be used in the future as a third class. However, some equipment may have a high level requirement, or are transcendent only.
Weapons
After considering what requirement skills have (some skills can only be used with certain weapon types), the Weapon Search tool within the iRO Wiki DB site is very helpful. Generally, for physical classes (both melee and ranged), something with high ATK is best. For magic classes, something with high MATK is best.

Lord Knight skills brought only one additional equipment type into use: heavy Spear class weapons. They were generally regarded as useless before. But thanks to Clashing Spiral, that relies on them for most of its damage, they are sought by many as of late. The most notable of them are :
- One-handed spear
- Hunting Spear (1), very expensive and rare
- Pole Axe (1)
- Long Horn (1)
- Pike (4), carded with 20% race/elements card (common but not heavy however)
- Two-handed spear
- Cardo (1) is the heaviest two-handed spear a Lord Knight can use
- Brionac
- Hellfire, a mildly common Lv. 4 weapon obtainable from the God Items Quest
- Halberd (2)
